There is no denying how heavy, violent or fucking sick Lividity really is. With their 5th full length offering, ‘To Desecrate and Defile’, on Epitome Producions, Illinois porn-grind masters Lividity punish and pulverize pussies, twats and cunts with razor sharp precision, ever pushing the knife deeper into that wound.
Having formed as a one man project in 1993 by the perverted Dave Kibler, Lividity have since dominated the gore-death battlefield with an onslaught of EPs, live albums, splits and even a ‘Best of / Compilation’. Their new release, is a nut-busting, blood soaked fuck-fest that lives up to its namesake. ’To Desecrate and Defile’ is 13 slabs of dead weight, smeared with sweat and sexually transmitted diseases. In one moment, the record reminds one of a jackhammer violating an asshole, such as the final seconds of ‘Surrounded by Disgust’ and in the next breath, slows to an impossibly heavy groove, dragging another corpse onto the pile.
Opening the album with ‘Sword of Sodomy’, Lividity waste no time displaying their musical prowess. Subtly mixing in odd-feeling rhythms that are a pain in the ass to headbang to along with straightforward and devastating progressions make the album interesting for its entire duration. The triple threat vocal attack can be a bit too much at times but hey, it is fucking extreme, so you get three fucking vocals! What really stands out on ‘To Desecrate and Defile’, as I mentioned earlier, is the flawless execution of the material. ’Mass Genocide’ has it all, guitars like razors slicing flesh clean, blasting drums crushing bone and enough vocal vomit to drown in.
All this blood, guts and sex wouldn’t mean shit to me if it wasn’t done well…I mean, I like heavy music, but gore-porn-grind-whatever isn’t really my thing. The production on ‘To Desecrate and Defile’ is quite hi-fidelity but should in no way lead you to think that what you hear is all studio-trickery. Example: When I saw these fuckers in Indianapolis around 1999, they destroyed…fucking killed the unsuspecting audience in their first song alone. I remember them throwing porn into the audience and asking, ‘Who got a blowjob today, already?’ The crowd was silent…didn’t know what to think. They were still trying to remove their balls from their assholes…Lividity will tear your shit up faster than a rabbit gets fucked. Period! Plus, Lividity cover two tracks from Blood; both faithful and sick renditions of the originals.

This release came out in late 2009 and since then, Lividity have also released a limited split on Horns and Hoofs Records as well as a staggering 35 track ‘Best of’ compiling rare material from 1994 to 2006 with Taphos Productions. Quit jacking off for a minute and get your hands on a disgusting release from Lividity!!!
