So opens the punishing split release, Towards Global Holocaust vs. Christ Dismembered. A raw production, solid performances, and a callous attitude for all things living, make this release a must-have for all misanthropes and war mongers.
Holocaust SS, the first of four from Towards Global Holocaust, draws first blood on Side Genocide. All tracks begin well with a thick, palm-muted guitar riff, reminiscent of thrash classics armored with denim and leather. These trappings are soon turned to ash as the battle begins, leaving the victim only to guess how they will meet their end. Issuing Forth the Decree of Blood and Fire is as relentless as napalm, burning into your flesh with the moaning despair typically found only in good DSBM. Each of these songs contains progressive and meaningful bridges, powerful guitar work, and razor-tongued vo-kills, standing strong on the front lines of extreme metal!
Drifting above the now-silent battlefield, Christ Dismembered have come to claim the dead. The project of Bahirimon main-man Grimlord, Christ Dismembered waste no time on Side Sacrilege. The Chambers of Decay, overflowing with rotting flesh, gut-wrenching guitar riffs and hammering drums, blasts open the disfigured corpses of poseur death bands everywhere. This is the type of metal madness that poseurs fear: unintelligible vocals, no flashy performances, lo-fi production, and crushing death delivered without compromise. The eponymous track, Christ Dismembered, tears through the tomb, up from the earth, and out into the night to haunt the living. The vocals are just unholy, and each track contains at least one section that — BOOM-BOOM-BOOM — pounds into your chest, puncturing organs with fractured ribs.
After all the smoke is cleared from the battlefield and the last drop of blood has dried, few will live to tell the tale of the dark union of Towards Global Holocaust and Christ Dismembered. Though their respective styles differ greatly, the means to the end matter little. The spoils of war will be only the souls of the dead . . . and few should be disappointed…
