Made up of a diverse group of musicians who have created a sound not heard since the birth of Thrash Metal decades ago, Hemoptysis is the true embodiment of the re-birth of American Thrash Metal. They have released their debut album Misanthropic Slaughter, which is an amazing Thrash metal Album. I heard a lot of good things on their EP, Who Needs a Shepherd, and was very curious to check out this debut. I had high expectations after hearing their EP and was not disappointed with Misanthropic Slaughter.

A lot of bands who come in now days have clear influences of Slayer and Exodus, which we have already heard a 1000 times. There is a need for new, fresh and original Thrash metal and this is where Hemoptysis paves a new way, soaring above the rest. They are undeniably a true-blue Thrash band and they display a lot of character in their songwriting. Hemoptysis are very progressive in their music and this actually takes their music to the next level. A lot of thrash metal bands sound the same from track one to the last and that gets boring over a period of time. But Hemoptysis managed to keep each track very different in Misanthropic Slaughter, keeping the album interesting.

Vocalist Masaki is quite impressive – spanning bestial snarls to almost breaking into songs during MOD, and sometimes he reminds me of a vocal style adapted by Arch Enemy. Ryan is an incredible guitarist who brings a fresh air to this band with his mind-blowing riffing and soloing (seriously, there are some brilliant solos on here). The drumming of Travis leaves you numb and the kind of variation in each track is done brilliantly.

Misanthropic Slaughter has elements of thrash metal, death metal and melodic death metal with the end resulting in a unique sound. The artwork is created by Evil Dave of Incision Tattoo in Glendale, AZ. Even thought it resembles an old school death metal cover art, but it is very unique. The Tracks “Shadow of Death”, “Hadephobia” and “End of Sorrow” stand out for their spine chilling guitaring, emotion filled solos and some fast paced drumming. Listening to Hemoptysis is a multi-faceted experience. The talent is very much there and overall “Misanthropic Slaugher” is infectious, exciting and absurdly fun to listen. The musicianship is outstanding and tight for a debut album. Check them out!!!!
