Hey, that’s a pretty sweet cover! And a pretty sweet album title, also! So both of those factors got me pretty excited to see what this apparently war-obsessed act was all about. It’s on Hells Headbangers, too, so I just knew something had to be awesome here (it’s one of those gut instincts you get from a label that’s proven itself very reliable over the course of several years). Let us dig deeper…

The album starts off with an eerie acoustic intro that picks up a tiny bit of speed and then culminates into a heavy on the snare drum blitzkrieg of aggression that continues throughout. Violence and destruction recur throughout and speed is in top order with more and more being the driving force behind this release. If they have nothing better to do, then I’m glad they stayed the course! There’s plenty of nasty, grinding depravity to whet all appetites. Track titles like “The Scourge Of Men”, “Heralds Of Triumph”, and “The Crucifilth” further reinforce their blasphemous and bellicose ways. A finely crafted release from start to finish with a unique sound all onto themselves due to the highly abused snare and cymbals, this stayed put for many spins before I dared even move on to anything else!

Score another fine victory for Hells Headbangers Records with this one. It absolutely lays waste to all things in its path, alive or inanimate. Violence, pestilence, and total destruction are the order of the day here, and all things to enable Sanguis Imperem to bathe in crimson rivers of blood are good for their souls, as depraved as they may be! The crescendo of hell has been unleashed, and its name is Sanguis Imperem! (FA)
